My name is:
 

.Jan Hilgert - BT-3 - USN - 1969-1973

I was born in Lima, Ohio and recieved my Draft notice in my
last month of High School in 1969.  But I decided to join the Navy
because my Uncle was a Master Chief aboard a Submarine; The
USS Hammerhead out of Norfolk, VA.  I took Basic in Orlando, FL
and BT School in Great Lakes, MI.  My first Station was in Mayport,
FL and from there we steamed to Vietnam aboard the USS Bigelow.
Most of you know what happened from there,
so I won't go into any gory details.

I'm just glad to be back and I will miss my friends who didn't. . .
